War Original
was less a war original intention of the French Revolution?

Okay so for a history essay that I have to talk about how French revolution ended very differently than it was scheduled or whatev, and got, a reign of terror and things absolute monarchy, but I'm not sure if under the war was or not … as the main line I have is one made by France for the class PPL PPL deal so I Dont Know

No, it was not. You Can argue that the revolution was caused by the war, the cost of the war of seven years and help the U.S. Revolution was largely why states were invited to bring any new taxes. But the original intention of the French Revolution was a real tax reform and the creation of a proper constitution for France. Tennis Court Oath I would say is when things changed for the agitation and discontent of revolution, and that oath is that the National Assembly not be dissolved until it had a constitution in place. The war has not come into it, other than as an indirect contributor.

Chess – Its Origins and Development

Chess is one of the great Board Games in the world. For centuries chess players worldwide have been captivated by its challenges, and its great teachers have been revered as superstars of a different order – superstars with brains.

** The origins and history of chess

Like many of our popular board games, like the ladies (ladies) and backgammon, chess originated sometime in the first millennium BC was somewhere on the Silk Road ran through Europe, Egypt, India and the Orient. Most historians trace its origins to northern India or Afghanistan sometime around 600 AD.

As expected, there is great controversy among chess historians as the date and place of origin of chess. While its origins somewhere in China, the most common theory is that the version of chess we know evolved from a game northern India called ashtapada. This game uses a 8×8 board (like ours), but four players, and moves were determined by the throw of the dice.

As Some historians point out, the only features ashtapada, and his successor chataranga called, were deeply rooted in indigenous culture of the time. The fact that it was a "four hands" War Game was consistent with the division of the country in many realms. And using the dice to determine the movements was a reflection of the importance of Karma in Indian religious thought.

** The evolution of modern chess

The gradual emergence of different types of Indian military forces in the Indian Board Game known as chataranga – elephants, chariots, cavalry and infantry – was consistent with the transition from one game relatively simple "race" to play a war game.

In a Racing Game players do not pick up or put off their opponents. If a player reaches the same box an opponent, the opponent would simply have to go back to the beginning and start again.

But when the principle of the capture or extinction was accepted – when making the opposing piece is captured off the board – this is a different game concept – a different "mindset." And that was only a matter of time before the various types of military forces, with different powers and values are introduced.

This transition from racing game war game important. But perhaps the most important evolutionary step – and the most difficult to explain – is the elimination of the dice as a means of determining movements. As Yuri Averbakh, a Russian chess historian, points out, this was not something that would happen "naturally" within a context pure Indian.

Como, says, "To change the game of chess Indian war was necessary to roll the dice. Unlike the previous stages which were typical of the evolutionary form of the game` s development and not contrary to the customs of the Indians and their religious beliefs, giving up the dice was a radical, a revolutionary step forward not only changed the game itself but also its philosophy. In fact, this step meant the removal of the principle of Karma – the basic principle of Indian philosophy. Now the result depends entirely on the players in their choice. They became absolute masters of their destiny. "

According Averbakh this would not have happened without Greece's influence in northern India. This influence goes back to Alexander the Great in the fourth century BC and developed further into what historians call the Indo-Greek Kingdom. It was a large area, including much of Afghanistan and northern India, which was conquered by Demetrio Greco-Bactrian type in 180 BC.

The kingdom lasted for 200 years in which the region experienced a profound synthesis of Greek religion and Indian culture, languages and symbols. As Wikipedia says, "The Indo-Greek kings seem to have reached a level of cultural syncretism, unparalleled in history, whose consequences are still felt today."

The Greek influence was felt for centuries after the demise of the Indo-Greek Kingdom. According Averbakh was this Greek influence "helpd the Indians to take the final step like chess. "In particular, he mentions that the Greeks brought the war game Petteia. Although I was a simple game, had two features that eventually won the game of chess – players could "kill" each other, and had not. "It was the player who decided where and what parts need to move. He had complete freedom of choice. "

** Chess in the Kushan Kingdom

Another writer goes even further in the placement of the origins of modern chess in Afghanistan region / northern India, but places the development long before 600 AD. Gerhard Josten, in his article "Chess – a living fossil," says that modern chess is an amalgam of a number of Different Games. We know, Josten claims due to their totally unique feature of having three different types of characters:

1. A relatively immobles centerpiece – the king – the capture of which is The goal of the game.
2. A number of different pieces that can make long moves – moves that cover more than one space.
3. A number of pieces that only can make short moves – moves that cover only a space.

Josten said that these different pieces originated in different games, and merged in we know as modern chess. Affirms type 1 in the kits of Chinese origin, type 2 pieces originated in Mesopotamian divination rites – in particular, the astrolabe of Babylon, and type 3 pieces originated in the Indian race games.

According to Josten, chess did not emerge fully developed into existence in 600 AD but evolved during the first two or three centuries of the first millennium – in particular, between 50 BC and 200 AD. This development took place in a number of places – India, China, , and all along the Silk Road to Europe – and every one of the areas that have influenced others.

But the most likely place where the Empire was gathered Kushan, the eventual successor to the Kingdom of Indo-Greek age. This was the central Asia area covers much of northern India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

As we saw with the Indo-Greek empire, the area was at the crossroads of Europe, India and the Orient, and was deeply influenced by Greek culture. More importantly, the Kushan were cultural, religious and linguistic synergists. They took elements from different cultures and forged these elements into something new and different.

This, Josten, is exactly what happened to the game of chess in the early centuries of the first millennium. It is also why we have so few facts about this period of influence. As he says,

"Following the gradual disintegration of the Kushan Empire, the conquest of neighboring states each claimed to be the masterminds of chess, without mention of the losers of the battles, the Kushan …. The fall of the Kushan empire may therefore be the main reason that many facts have been lost and amazing that so many legends have sprung up around the origins of chess … "
