Star Warped
In Star Trek, does the warp bubble mean that the ship will pass through anything in its way?

or do they need to plot a course which avoids collisions? I know that it is probably in the wrong category, but I couldn’t find Science Fiction.

Well… the only time they ever referred to a “warp bubble” was when Wesley Crusher was building one in engineering in the TNG episode, “Remember Me”. He called it a “static warp bubble”. It only existed in engineering and never manifested itself outside the ship.*

*However, Beverly Crusher was pulled into the static warp bubble, and since the last thoughts she was thinking when she came into it was how people she’s known have started passing away, it manifested itself into reality for her whereas people were disappearing off the ship. Eventually the bubble itself started tearing away the ship as it got smaller and smaller, so yes, I guess in that small contingency, it was outside the ship. But only in a false reality. And even in that case, there would be no need to steer around the bubble since it encompassed the entire universe and got smaller and smaller.

In conclusion, no. There would not be a warp bubble for them to plot a course around in which to avoid collisions.
