Book suggestion for 9 year old Magic Treehouse fan?
My son was a huge Magic Treehouse book fan. Now they are too easy for him to read, and he reads the new ones in one sitting. I’m looking for suggestions of other magic/adventure series (it was the magic and problem solving adventure that he really liked about the MT books) that are at the 9-12 year old reading level.
I liked the fact that it was a series so it was easy for me to buy him a new book
Try the Time Warp Trio series by Jon Scieszka (they’re only slightly higher than MTH, but he may enjoy them)
Some other books with magical components:
Half Magic and other books by Edward Eager
The Baseball Card Adventure books (time travel) by Dan Gutman
Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher and other books by Bruce Coville (fantasy)
The Wish Giver and 2 other Coven Tree books by Bill Brittain
Magic books (Secret of Platform 13, Which Witch, Dial-a-Ghost) by Eva Ibbotson
Bunnicula series by James Howe
Sideways Stories from Wayside School series by Louis Sachar
The Ghost Belonged to Me, Ghosts I Have Been, The Dreadful Future of Blossom Culp, and Blossom Culp and the Sleep of Death by Richard Peck
FUNNY non-magical books:
Soup series by Robert Newton Peck
Tales of a Fourth-Grade Nothing, Fudge, Superfudge, Fudge-a-Mania, Double Fudge by Judy Blume
Me and Caleb, Me and Caleb Again by Franklyn E. Meyer (if your library doesn’t have these, ask them to purchase them — they are just recently back in print and they are hilarious!)
The Great Brain series by John D. Fitzgerald
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson
