How much does ring resizing cost?

I just got a white gold ring with diamond solitaire from Zales and it is 1/2-1 size too big.

How much would it cost to have it resized? Are there any other ways to make it fit?

I paid $40 for each of my rings. I thought I was a size 7, so that’s what he got, but it turns out I’m a 5 3/4. Also, my wedding band has 14 channel set diamonds on the top half, and most jewelers didn’t want to size it (it’s risky, you could lose diamonds while sizing), but a friend’s trusted jeweler did it for me, and a year later everything is still in place.
Some rings can’t be re-sized, though. I found my hubby’s up-grade band at a great price, and they only had it in one size, so I got it right away. it was too big, and has a design all around, so they added a gold “strip” inside, that can be removed or replaced when his finger fattens up with age.
