Everquest Installation Problems?

Well, I just bought the original everquest and Shadows of Luclin, I installed original everquest, and shadows of luclin following, but then when I try to patch in the game, it says:
“To play Everquest you need DirectX 6 or above.”
I have DirectX 9, please help =[
Oh and by the way, I do have an active Everquest account. I used to play it, but got bored, sold it, bought it back.
