Does the Philippines or Filipinos in general are more Latino or Asian?
The first settlers were the blacks of Africa. … Before http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/negritos the Spanish conquest of the Philippines were colonized by the Austronesian also a town similar to the Pacific islands. Then came the settlement of South China. Then it became part of the Hindu empire of Sri Vajaya (Greater India), whose empire covered most of Southeast Asia. The Philippines were in the process of Islamization brought by Arab traders, but the arrival of the Spanish who promptly raped and converted to Catholicism to the people, destroyed much of the rich heritage Hispanic and stopped it. For 333 years it was ruled from Mexico and served as a penal colony, shopping and the cultivator of the highly controversial "Spice." The Illustrator (Illuminati) that attended the reform of Europe, but is fermented unsucessful due to the U.S. invasion. The Philippines gained independence after the Japanese occupation.
I used to think only Asians simply because of the geographical location of the Philippines and I think many Filipinos share the same feeling. I have the opportunity to meet the ambassador of Mexico to the Phil years ago and noted the similarities that many of the Filipinos to Latinos. After to hear what he said, I am very intrigued by what those things were mentioned not educated in the school. There are so many things that unite Mexicans and Filipinos and the degree of this relationship is only equaled by the Filipino-Chinese connection. Not many Filipinos can feel Latin, but without knowing it, we share many beliefs, ideologies, cultural issues and history. They even sell green mangoes and "cincamas" in the Streed like us … they have something similar to the barong … religious figures are the same … even call the carpenters as kawayanan "or something. Another thing is seldom mentioned is that many Mexicans have Filipino blood, as many of the workers before were brought from the Philippines. Ever wonder why the Mexican soaps are a success in the Philippines? I can say now I'm more Latino than Asian and I am sure that if the Mexican-Philippine relations said, I think most Filipinos feel the same way. We are near a village, just do not know. Until then, however, I think most Filipinos think of them as purely Asiatic.
