How can I get my brown racer (snake) to eat a pinky mouse?
The pinky mouse (yes, it is defrosted) seems kind of big for him, anyway .. I tried dangling it with a pair of tweezers, but he runs away from it. So, I left it in there with him. How long before it gets “old”?
He doesn’t seem to get angry, he just runs away .. (and he’s very quick)
Racers are one of the worst snakes You Can have as a pet. I know you caught it since no one breeds them because they make such poor pets. They are usually ridden with parasites, can be extremely aggressive, and often will starve to death before they will eat in captivity. You’re best off letting it go. But if you insist on keeping it, baby racers often won’t eat rodents but prefer frogs. As they get older, they will eat more rodents. A wild caught racer often won’t take a prey item unless it is alive, so it probably won’t take a frozen/thawed pinky mouse.
