First Time on American Airlines? Help! 10 points?

i’m 16 years old and my sister will be 15 soon
We’ve both been on planes before but always the follower of the adults.They would lead us and tell us what to do. But this time were going alone during the summer for around 2 to 3 weeks.Were in New York traveling to North Carolina which is [1 hr 45 mins]
There’s just some questions i need answered.

1. Do me and my sister need any identification card to get on the plane?
2. When we arrive to our destination where would be a good place for my friend and her older sister to meet us at the airport?
3. Do we need to show anything when we check in our luggage to be putted into the airplane?
4. Is there a person that can lead us to our terminal and gate number?

1. both of you will need a government issued id card at check in
2. you should meet at baggage claim, its easiest to find, in most airports there are signs pointing towards it….everywhere
3. no You Don‘t need to show anything to check in your luggage, they will weigh it and send you on your way…it must be under 50 pounds by the way…
4. yes anyone who works with american airlines can help you find your gate! what i would suggest is, when you get to the check in counter, tell them that you will need help finding your gate and ask if they can have someone meet you on the other side of security to escort you to your gate…once you find your gate if you have time, You Can go get something to eat or drink, read a magazine, etc. anything you buy after security you can take on the plane with you too!
