Poland’s Largest Online Portal Onet.pl Selects Extendmedia For New On Demand Video Service

BOSTON, MA and WARSAW, POLAND–(Marketwire – February 16, 2010) –  ExtendMedia Corp., the leading independent provider of enterprise-class, multi-screen video management software, today announced that the company’s OpenCASE platform has been deployed by Onet.pl, Poland’s largest web portal, to power a new, over-the-top video on demand (VOD) service, OnetVOD, to broadband subscribers in Poland.

Debuting today, OnetVOD is a public, online service offering free, ad supported and pay-to-view movies, TV series and programs to all Polish internet users. With a broad array of content and several payment choices for consumers, OnetVOD provides film and television entertainment directly to the consumer taking advantage of new digital management and distribution technologies. With more than 2,100 titles available at launch, the Onet.pl content library includes titles produced within Onet.pl’s parent company, TVN Group, as well as from major Hollywood studios and other media distributors.

“Onet.pl has a singular growth objective of becoming the largest commercial VOD provider in Poland and to achieve this goal we must deliver great content and flexible payment options,” said Lukasz Wejchert, CEO of Onet.pl Group. ”To that end, we required an efficient and versatile digital video platform for managing, publishing and monetizing video across PCs, televisions and mobile devices. I am convinced that ExtendMedia’s OpenCASE platform is the best solution to build and deploy OnetVOD based on its support for multiple media business models and proven implementations with leading telcos, cable operators and media companies around the world. We are pleased to partner with ExtendMedia to provide the best VOD experience for Polish internet users.”

ExtendMedia’s OpenCASE platform was purpose-built to meet the needs of content creators and distributors seeking to build, deploy and manage unified video services across PC, TV and mobile devices.

Built from the ground up to be platform-neutral, OpenCASE includes out-of-the-box integration with leading ad servers, CDNs, DRM providers and encoding platforms, supports both paid and ad-supported business models, and can deliver streamed or downloaded content to multiple devices.

OnetVOD leverages OpenCASE’s support for Microsoft Silverlight Smooth Streaming video and PlayReady DRM, while furthering the expansion of ExtendMedia’s customer and partner footprint across Europe.

“Today’s announcement is significant for Onet.pl and its users, as well as for ExtendMedia,” said Tom MacIsaac, CEO of ExtendMedia. “With OpenCASE, Onet.pl can offer its customers the most advanced payment and delivery options for premium content consumption. For ExtendMedia, the Onet.pl deployment is continued validation of the full capabilities of the OpenCASE platform and it reflects our continued expansion across Europe.”
