Plug Mastering
Why does my DSL have trouble connecting through my extension but work fine through the master port?

My router worked fine through my extension for about a week and then i came home one day and the DSL light was flashing meaning it coudnt connect. i plugged it directly into the master port and it works fine.

why did my router work fine for a week, then suddenly decide not to.

is there a way i can extend my router, before i was using a normal phone line extension with the microfilter at the extended end.?

Please Help!

If it doesn’t work at all and you get no DSL connection, it’s probably mis-wired. The DSL modem itself is the one device that doesn’t need a filter. If you have a splitter (a device with a ‘phone’ jack and a ‘DSL’ jack that connects to the wall), the DSL modem must be connected to the DSL jack. If it’s a regular filter, it will block the DSL filter, which is not what you want for the modem itself.

It’s also possible something else on your line changed. Did you add any devices to your phone line (alarms systems, satellite TV receivers, answering machines)? Or did you move anything without moving the filter?
