Swimming in the ocean is a part of everyday life in New Zealand?

I was watching a Discovery Channel show and it seems like swimming in the ocean is a common part of life in New Zealand for all premises in this list? Must be nice, people are lucky

Sure it is, I grew up in New Zealand, the beach is a part of everyday life there. New Zealand has two white sand beaches and black sand. The white sands are on the east side and black on the west. NZ is so small that we are not far from a beach!
