Yankees Can defy all odds – a quick preview of the situation in the Group C World Cup 2010
ENGLAND
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham)
Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool) Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Upson Matthew (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Scott Parker (West Ham), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City)
Forwards: Darren Bent (Sunderland), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Comment: The only line that complete world-class England is the defense – Cole, Ferdinand, Terry and Johnson, a wall of enemies. And under Capello management, this could be enough for a breakthrough in the semi-final or final. But there are many uncertainties in all other lines. Hart is too young and inexperienced to go directly from a starting position. The remaining problem is the lack goalkeepeers their qualities. The center of the field – in addition to Lampard and to some extent the non-form Gerrard, there are people who can make a difference in an important accessory. As for strikers – Capello must follow Sir Alex tactics – Rooney alone in the dark.
ALGERIA
Goalkeepers: Lounes Gaouaoui (ASO Chlef), Faouzi Chaouchi (Entente Setif), Mohamed Lamine Zemmamouche (MC Alger), M'bohi Ouheb Rais (Slavia Sofia, Bulgaria)
Defenders: Abdelkader Laifaoui (Entente Setif), Madjid Bougherra (Rangers, Scotland), Carl Medjani (Ajaccio, France), Rafik Halliche (Nacional Madeira, Portugal), Anther Yahia (Bochum, Germany), Habib Belaid (Boulogne-sur-Mer France), Nadir Belhadj (Portsmouth, England), Djamel Mesbah (Lecce, Italy), Hocine Metref (ES Setif), Mohamed Meftah (JS Kabylie)
Midfielders: Hassan Yebda (Portsmouth, England), Medhi Lacen (Racing Santander, Spain), Yazid Mansouri (Lorient, France), Adlene Guedioura (on loan at Wolverhampton, England, Charleroi, Belgium), Boudebouz Riyadh (Sochaux, France), Djamel Abdoun (Nantes, France), Kadir Fouad (Valenciennes, France), Mourad Meghni (Lazio, Italy), Karim Ziani (Wolfsburg Germany), Karim Matmour (Borussia Moenchengladbach, Germany), Lazhar Hadj Aissa (ES Setif), Khaled Lemmouchia (ES Setif)
Forwards: Ghezzal Abdelkader (Siena, Italy), Rafik Djebbour (AEK Athens), Rafik Saifi (Istres, France), Chadli Amri (Kaiserslautern, Germany)
Comment: Algeria one of the few African squad that could be praised for his defense. They are pure class acts in the face of Bougherra and Belhadj, while Halliche will join a more than decent line. Everyone knows that there are famous holders of this part of the continent, but M'bohi Rais went on trial at Manchester United this month, while which is reported to be prosecuted by Newcastle as well. Perhaps you could provide a much-needed stability. In the front there is not much to say – the team should continue with a single Front (Ghezzal) who play in the counters. The midfield and the defense is decent – Matmour, Ziani, Yebda are appropriate for players to play on the counter. With a template that the computer does not support a lot of goals.
SLOVENIA
Goalkeepers: Samir Handanovic (Udinese), Jasmin Handanovic (Mantova), Aleksander Seliga (Sparta Rotterdam), Jan Koprivec (Maribor)
Defenders: Bojan Jokic (Chievo Verona), Marko Suler (Gent), Bostjan Cesar (Grenoble), Branko Ilic (Lokomotiv Moscow), Matej Mavric (Koblenz), Dejan Kelhar (Cercle Brugge), Dzinic Elvedin (Maribor), Miso Breck (Cologne), Aleksandar Rajcevic (Koper), Suad Filekovic (Maribor)
Midfielders: Andraz Kirm (Wisla Krakow), Andrej Komac (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Rene Krhin (Inter Milan), Mirnes Sisic (Giannina), Darjan Matic (Rapid Bucharest), Dare Vršič (Koper), Dalibor Stevanovic (Vitesse Arnhem), Robert Koren (West Bromwich Albion), Aleksander Radosavljevic (Larissa), Valter Birsa (Auxerre)
Forwards: Milivoje Novakovic (Cologne), Zlatko Dedic (VfL Bochum), Zlatan Ljubijankic (Ghent), Nejc Pecnik (National), Miran Burgic (AIK Solna), Tim Matavz (Groningen)
Comment: Slovenia looks awesome striking power. You Can count Novakovic, whose height and physical presence could be used against both Algeria and the U.S.. Matavz has been fatal for Groningen entire season, and will be aggressive to bring actions to ensure a transfer to a prestigious European club. Handanovic between the posts is pretty solid as it has done good and impressive natural reflex. But Slovenia lacks quality in both defense and midfield. Those departments that can be resent even against Algeria.
U.S.
Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton)
Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Rennes), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Jay DeMerit (Watford), Clarence Goodson (IK home), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Oguchi Onyewu (AC Milan), Heath Pearce (FC Dallas), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United)
Midfielders: DaMarcus Beasley (Rangers) Alejandro Bedoya (Orebro), Michael Bradley (Borussia Monchengladbach), Ricardo Clark (Eintracht Frankfurt), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Benny Feilhaber (Aarhus), Stuart Holden (Bolton) Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew), Joseph Thompson (Pachuca)
Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Villarreal), Edson Buddle (Los Angeles Galaxy), Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo), Robbie Findley (Real Salt Lake), Herculez Gomez (Puebla), Eddie Johnson (Aris Thessaloniki)
Comment: United States could return to the pleasant surprise in this WC. The team is more experienced and quality boiling now. goalkeeper and it's no problem – they have no other option than even the best European teams would envy. The line of defense is good, is not particularly intriguing, but do to reach the 1 / 8 final. The midfield has a lot of offensive power at high speed. The other teams should ensure they have good full backs to cover Donovan, Beasely and company. As for the offensive department – Altidore and Johnson will do a good job. The lots shall be counted but will be aided Jozym the center of the field, so that a passage from the group should not surprise us.
