Where can I find good resources for learning how to brew my own beer?
I am interested in brewing my own beer. I have no clue where to start.
The Complete Joy Of Homebrewing by Papazian. One of the most referenced and referred books for learning how to homebrew. Go by the library and see if You Can get any books on brewing, or just order the books online.
Midwest Brewing Supplies is a great company for ingredients, starter kits, and books. If you order a brewing kit from them, you’ll get a free DVD on how to brew. http://www.midwestsupplies.com
There are also a ton of forums and websites dedicated to homebrewing on the internet. Personally I like http://www.byo.com but there are many others.
There is a plethora of information out there that can all be a little overwhelming. I say just buy a basic extract ingredient kit, and a beginner brewer kit (with the fermenters and cappers, etc), and just make some beer. If you follow the directions well, you’ll get great beer.
Good luck!
Edit: Never underestimate the power of a local brewstore, they are usually very very helpful (and patient), and full of knowledge.
