I need any current info on how to soft mod a Nintendo Wii?

I need links to download the software and instructions to soft mod my nintendo wii, any info is appreciated. I do NOT want the Brewii or any software that costs money, it is supposed to be free, thanks.

Yeah, Brewii and those other “Wii Unlocking” software are scams. Good job on not falling for those.

All you need is a Wii, An SD Card, A computer and some way to read SD Cards on it.
I would only install the homebrew channel and not BootMii or DVDx because BootMii drastically changes how your Wii boots, and DVDx would be fine but on my Wii it stops Super Smash Bros. Brawl from loading.
Oh, and the first homebrew app you should get if you have the internet on your Wii is the Homebrew Browser: http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Browser
It lets you look at and download homebrew from the internet directly to your Wii without a computer.
