ColecoVision to iPhone Games – part 17

In this ongoing look at the decisive moment in the history of game design, we've taken a look at Halo Bungie and Halo 2, Bethesda Elder Scrolls series, Nintendo's Metroid and several others. The aim of this series is to go beyond simple gaming magazines and iPhone Applications of opinions, and take a closer look at what defines memorability and quality game design. In this part of the seventeenth of the series, will examine some more of those classic moments in video game designers certainly got it right and delivered a memorable, lasting and progressive games.

Kid Icarus (Nintendo) – Released in the United States in 1987, Kid Icarus was developed together with other classic NES title, the original Metroid. Many of the members of one team has worked in both games, which explains the similarities between the two degrees. In Kid Icarus, players take control of the Pool, and traveling through the earth angel and save the kingdom … and women, of course. Played primarily as a vertical scroller, the game offers some surprising depth. Weapons and abilities are improved, and the defense options available later in the game. Kid Icarus is known as a very difficult game, but this is somewhat relieved by saving the system, which provides a code of long players must copy down, and re-enter to resume. Unfortunately, this system is notoriously buggy code, because even correctly entered codes are sometimes rejected by the game, resulting in the player is forced to turn back and repeat sections game. Despite these technical shortcomings, Kid Icarus is one of the most beloved NES titles of all time.

The review of Kid Icarus for a single outstanding characteristic, there are some elements that are immediately volunteers to mention. The gameplay is tight everywhere, with a challenge, but rarelyfrustrating, enemies and bosses everywhere. Almost upward urging the player, the songs of the game is still a positive result still dangerous driving and non-intrusive. The music in the game is also contextual, as each sub-section room and has its own specific set of appropriate and relevant topics.

The sound quality goes beyond music, however. One of the most memorable aspects of Kid Icarus the sounds of the enemy when wounded by arrows Pit. Loud, painful sounds are wounded enemies for greater immersion in the world and investment in the character of the pool. Anyone who has been lucky to beat the final boss of the game is likely to remember the horrible sounds thrown forward as empty his quiver Pit in their eyes vulnerable. All sounds have video games, and most have a soundtrack for going along with it. But few games are able to make those sounds so crucial part of the game, delivering a well-rounded listening experience, every sound has an emotional charge, and ensure that the player returns to game music as much as the current game. My English teacher asked me to organize some games for children is throwing a party for friends of her and her husband. She said this will help me for my career in the future (I plan to be a Spanish teacher). So far I have found a lot of games, and I was wondering if anyone had any good idea.
