How do I give an enemy lives in Game Maker 7?

I’m making a platform game where my character is Pacman. One of my enemies is a Pacman ghost and I’m fine with him. Another enemy is a small spaceship thing which floats around. I want to make it so that it dies when I shoot it 3 times. How do I do that?
