What is the best Final Fantasy game besides VII?

I want to get a Final Fantasy game, but i am not sure which one to get. I see that Final Fantasy 7 is the most popular one but that you would have to spend around $70 bucks for a copy. so what other one in the series should i purchase?

…Why would you have to spend $70 for a copy of VII? I have that game and got it for like $12 a few years ago. (during PS2 time). Back then they said it was a lot of money too… maybe people are just weird. It’s not even that great of a game imo. Though i don’t like any FF game.
