Extreme Fishing
Does any one know a good Extreme temp change fish acclimating techniques?

I know its not the best for the fish, but I had to move a goldfish I have from a 83 degree fish tank to a 40-60 degree pond( temp always changing). I already moved the fish but I need to know a acclimating technique for the future.

Thanks in advance.

Temp changes are the least of your worries when moving a fish from one environment to another. The easiest way is the old tried and true “float a bag” technique for about 15-20 minutes. This will allow the temp to “slowly” equilize. This does NOTHING for any acclimation to changes in pH, hardness, or other water chemistry. These can often kill a fish much more readily than a sudden temp change. The best way is to slowly mix the water from the new environment into a container with the old water and fish in it over a period of about an hour you should have predominantly “new” water with the fish and it can be added to the new environment.
