Evil Crime
for the mean people out there, does crime or doing evil pay?

some people are just mean and won’t hesitate stabbing you at the back and front. they seem to get away w/ it. but does being evil really pay?

Two thoughts.

First – do you honestly believe “mean people” are cruising yahoo answers for the purpose of enlightening you? That would be a charitable act, which eliminates “mean people.”

Second – most “mean people” do not see themselve as either mean or evil. They rationalize the evil they do as either recompense owed them by the system, or “the man.” They see themselves as victims of a cruel and unjust world and therefore say they are just doing what they need to do to survive.

To this point we all are flawed to some degree or another. We all have the capacity and perform evil in various ways. (that is why the scriptures say that “all have sinned.”). You may believe – “heck, I’m a pretty good guy (or girl), I haven’t murdered anyone…” But we’re really talking a matter of degrees of evil. Jesus said that anyone guilty of having hated someone is just as morally guilty as someone who murdered.

That’s not an argument in defense of evil – just a statement that we all need retain a repentant heart toward God for the wrongs that we have done (if we are honest with ourselves).

I have done many things I am ashamed of in my life. Confessing those to God and others and repenting of them has freed me from them. The first step in repenting is to own up the fact that you too have done evil in the sight of God. Jesus said the “truth will set you free.”
