Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, also known as Victoria or simply as Vicky, is a real-time Strategy Game by Paradox Entertainment (now known as Paradox Interactive). It covers its namesake the Victorian period, specifically 1836-1920 and runs on a modified version of the Europa Universalis engine. The lead game programmer was Johan Andersson. The game was later ported to Macintosh by Virtual Programming.
Unlike previous Paradox Games, which either focused on exploration and colonization (Europa Universalis) or warfare (Hearts of Iron), Victoria focuses on internal management, covering the industrialization and social/political changes in a country. The game itself gives a lot of importance to the economy of a country, having a complex market system which is described as being one of the best economic simulators ever made. Fans of Paradox’s games have noted this one for being the deepest game Paradox has yet made, making it quite popular with the Paradox fanbase. However, Victoria received largely indifferent reviews on release, averaging only 60.4% on Game Rankings. Critics cited reasons such as the game’s steep learning curve and its relatively dated graphics.
On August 19, 2009 a sequel Victoria 2 was announced, and is set for release in the third quarter of 2010.[1]The economic system in Victoria attempts to simulate the flow of resources in a world market. Every province in the game produces a resource. Some resources, such as wheat, are demanded principally by POPs (population units), and can be sold directly. Other materials, such as timber, are consumed mostly by industry – but can nonetheless be sold directly for less profit. The player possesses a wide range of options with which to build their economy, provided they have access to the proper raw materials. All resources can be collected or produced by industry. They can also be acquired on the world market. Access to the world market is granted based on a country’s prestige rating.

Can this computer play games…?
I’m thinking of buying another computer which will be slightly used (1-2 times per week) for playing games like: Black & White 2, Diablo 2 and Europa Universalis lll
Is this computer good enough to play those games?
2GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4000+ (512KB L2 Cache)
2GB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to 4GB)
320GB SATA Hard Drive
Super-Multi DVD Drive (DVD+/-RW, DVD-RAM)
ATI Radeon X1250 Graphics
Integrated gigabit LAN
RJ-45 Ethernet port
9-in-1 Media Card Reader
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Bilingual*
I have a AMD 64 x2 4400 now with that x1250 on board graphics and 2 gig ram. I also have xp pro and I can play just about anything at pretty decent speed and resolution. Like right now I am playing Halo2 with ZERO lag and ZERO problems at high resolution. Just do yourself a favor and get XP if at all possible. Vista sucks so bad.
