Has anyone made their hoodscoop on their Sport Tacoma become functional?
Last year, I bought a Sport Edition Tacoma that has a hoodscoop on it. When I observed closely, it is not a functional one as it is closed off with a black plastic molding. I tried to remove this black plastic piece but was unsuccessful. If I did though, the opening part of the hoodscoop would not look normal. My only option would be to drill holes into the black plastic piece to allow air to pass into the engine compartment. I’m contemplating if I should even worry about making it become functional. Would it increase performance if I made it functional?? Any thoughts??
I woudn’t see why it would make a difference. The only reason that you would really need to make it “functional” is if you were trying to get extra air to something crucial in your engine bay. I.E. turbo intercooler, ram air intake or for older cars the carburator. The only possible positive effects that I can see for your application is to make the engine a little cooler due to the air running across it.
