Will make a darker movie is better?
When people say that a film of a trilogy or series is darker than is predisessor, they always seem to be saying that makes it a much better movie. I really disagree with this, however, as I discovered that Indiana Jones and the Temple Doom was the darkest of the Indiana Jones movies, but I thought it was the weakest of the three.
I think it only works to some extent. If becomes very dark, the public can not see anything, figuratively or metaphorically.
