a question for pilots or airplane mechanics…..?

I would like to know your opinion of the NTSB report on the TWA crash over Long Island Sound. I’m not a person who tends to think everything is a “conspiracy” but I have my doubts on this matter. Is is really likely that an almost-empty fuel tank can generate an explosion? I guess I really feel that a missile was involved, and wanted to know others thoughts.

This may well be an event like the JFK assasination, where we will never know all the facts for sure.

The NTSBs job is to look at the facts and present them as the most plausable explaination they can find. Their conclusions are come to via a panel, and not everyone on that board may necessarily agree with the findings of the other members, even if they agree to vote for a certain cause or contribuatory cause in the end.

I believe the missile theory is certainly possible, regardless of what the NTSB official report says is the cause. There Were 755 witnesses who reported seeing light streaks, a “missile trail” or other atmospheric phenomina to the aurhorities right before the crash happened in that area. On August 15, 2000 the Washington Times even carried a full page ad from the “TWA 800 Eyewitness Alliance” demanding that their claims be addressed.

An Air National Guardsman who witnessed the explosion of TWA Flight 800 repeatedly told authorities he thought a missile had struck the plane. After searching for survivors the night of the crash, Capt. Chris Baur, a helicopter pilot, returned to his base and “told officials immediately he thought he saw a missile”. An NTSB investigator who interviewed Baur said that what the pilot saw could be explained by mechanical malfunction that might have created “a tongue of flame coming from the aircraft”.

How do you explain away all that? Hmmm…some things just don’t add up. I don’t think they ever will in this case.
