Is “slent” an official word?
I recently entered the World Championship Crossword Puzzle tournament, but” sadly I was eliminated in the semifinals due to the use of the word “slent” I have always been taught growing up that “slent” was the past tense form of “smell”. Isn’t this a word?! Please tell me I’m right.
It’s sometimes used as the past tense form of slant, not smell. That would be smelt.
