Why does it take so long?
Why does it take so long to release a game in another country? Monster Hunter Frontier-PC Released in Japan in mid-2007, Korea in mid-2008 .. Now it is 2010 and the U.S., Europe and China are still TBA (to be announced) Would not it about the same game, just a different language? You should not take so long to translate .. I guess there's a lot to happen before launching a game, but really? 3 years after Japan is still TBA? I read a blog, http://blog.capcom.com/archives/751, but that was 2008, are there any changes to it? (He notes that are needed at least 3 people to do some things and need servers to Play Online, but I do not think it would be very difficult to find people to help, and the players could host their own servers ..)
The location is quite a complicated process depending on how the game performs. So games use DLLs resources that can easily be exchanged language resources, while others have been carefully designed this way to start. Other issues can be geopolitical – that is, the ratings systems in the United States, the content related to the Nazis in Europe, and Falun Gong or pornographic content in China can lead to entry barriers as well. Finally, there are cultural issues regarding some of the content as well. That is, the Russians may want certain aspects of the plot to portray the Russians as evil changed a bit.
