Sorting out attacks and Spares – Scoring a Bowling Game

Believe it or not, the recreational bowler average, although capable of performing well in bowling, can be a total loss when it comes to being able to keeping score.

Many bowling alleys now have automatic scoring system that does all the calculating scores for them. While not exactly a skill that can contribute to a better game, bowling a full understanding includes knowing how to score a game.

Below is an easy way (hopefully) to follow the step through how fallen pins convert to points on the board:

1. As probably already know, each game is divided into 10 segments. That number corresponds to the number of boxes lined up in a row next to a players name on the scoreboard. Each box has a smaller box in the upper left corner.

2. In the smaller frame, you must write the number of pins that fell on the first attempt infielder.

3. In the box next to the smallest which had the first attempt, note the number of pins that fell on the second attempt.

4. Add the two numbers together and put the result (total) in the larger space at the bottom of the box.

5. If the strike made on the first try, you mark with an 'X' in the small box. Add 10 points (the strike) to the total number of pins which are recorded in table surface above and write in the totals for that particular frame.

6. If a second strike followed the first, add 10 points for the first attack, another 10 for the second, but before closing the account of this painting in particular, note the number of pins that fell on the first try of the next frame. Add this number at 20 points in the above table.

7. For response rates, a slash (/) in the little box after all the pins have been knocked down in the second attempt. Then wait for the number of pins to fall into the first part of the upcoming attempt and add this to the 10 points of the spare tire. Write this number in the total area of the frame where the spare was made.

Boredom in the process is overshadowed by the convenience of computers do, but it's part of knowing which is about bowling. To fully appreciate a game in all its aspects, taking the time to practice it does not hurt.
