Does anyone know how to reset the on board computer?

I have a 1994 BMW 530 i. I had the fan replaced for the a/c and the heater. Now the on board computer has PPPP and will not program. The book says to call the dealer. Hopefully someone can help me. I know what calling the dealer means.
