was minnosata fats a world champ in billards?
No Minnesota Fatts was never a world champion. He was a great pool player though , especially at bank shots.I don’t know about him being a pool hustler but he sure could talk a Great Game sorta speak. Pool hustlers prey upon weaker players to get an easy buck and I don’t know that fatts ever did that. I believe his nickname was New York Fatts until the movie the hustler came out and then he changed it to Minnesota to match one of the main characters in the movie. Minnesota Fatts was played by Jackie Gleason in that movie who was a great pool player in his own right.Anyway to answer your question , no he wasn’t a world champion , but he was a good person and a great ambassador for the game of pool.
