Creating programs with interfaces/graphics?

So, I know how to program decently well, I’m a computer science major. As practice for the summer, I am making a Battleship game program. Now, I have no idea how to really like include “graphics” in my programming, it’s all done in a command line such as “terminal”. So, my graphics are basically a board consisting of chars that are output to the command line. I want to Learn How to actually create like a window that would pop up or something where you could click on things or at least see images. Where would I begin to look to even start learning this? I wasn’t even sure what to search for to learn about this. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
