What is the name of the book where the kids shot up magic like drugs?

When I was in High School I read a book about a girl who ran away. She ended up staying with some kids under ground where they shot up magic. They used it like a drug. There was some kind of battle or something and she ended up falling in love with a troll or something that lived under the bridge.

Valiant by Holly Black. The drug was called nevermore.
