Cessna 172 Simulator – How Realistic Are Simulations Anyway?
It was not too long ago that flight simulators were extremely basic. Nowadays, as Computer Software engineering has become more sophisticated, flight simulators, such as those for a Cessna 172 , are extremely detailed.
The software design that is involved in the creation of a flight simulator basically allows you to take control over practically every facet of piloting this type of plane.
There is no more doubt that a Cessna 172 simulator is literally as true to life as You Can be, to piloting the real plane.
Yet how effective of a a learning aid can a flight Simulator Software program really be?
Aviation simulator software has evolved since the beginning days of computers. If you operate the simulator, it is just like you were actually flying the real deal.
As a matter of fact, a number of instrument flight students (who are learning to operate a plane exclusively by relying on the instruments with zero visual indication as to what’s going on outside the window – (also known as flying “blind”) attest that there is little difference between a simulator and actual flying.
Just about every facet of navigating an airplane, every law of aerodynamics, and every possible outcome of various weather conditions are incorporated into the simulator to be as realisitic as is technically feasible.
The experience of piloting a simulator is so true-to-life that it offers a seamless transition from simulator to piloting real airplanes.
In light of all of the progress in computer technology that we have available these days, in the modern era, one of the greatest and most essential resources that every pilot, irrespective of whether he or she is a newbie pilot or an ace pilot, must have at his or her disposal, is a good flight simulator.
A flight simulator can help to shorten the gap during those unexpected periods of indefinite downtime between flights.
It could also empower you to brush up on your skills, help you maintain your proficiency, and could even help you to earn some more time in those areas in which you could use some improvement.
Flight simulators can help you become a safer pilot.
They can also help you save money, as well as time, on needless training or unnecessarily having to repeat performing the same practice maneuvers over and over again.
The good news is that, flight simulator software is so advanced, that piloting a simulator is just about every bit as realistic as piloting the real deal. The instrument panel is identical. The control inputs are identical. The “map” programmed into the simulator is based on real world cartographic data points. The way the aircraft reacts to various internal (weight and balance, fuel, aircraft performance) as well as external (weather phenomena, air temperature) forces is intended to imitate real world scenarios.
For a lot of people, a flight simulator is simply a very high-tech video game. And in many ways, it can be enjoyed in such a capacity. After all, you never have to worry about crashing the airplane in a simulation program!
But for many others, a flight simulator is a robust learning tool, and for many professional pilots, it is an integral foundation of their aviation career.

AVIATION/PILOT Summer Camp for 13+ Kids!?
Hey guys, I am 13 and would like to go to a aviation/pilot summer camp. I fly planes on flight simulators and even went to dallas to go to a 14M dollar simulator! Anyone know some good ones for me? BTW My family is willing to spend anything for a good camp and I am also willing to go to a different state etc. Please Help!
Try the summer career program for kids 13-18 at Embry Riddle University Florida. It’s two or three weeks I believe and you get to stay in the dorm rooms there and they take you to their simulators, different professionals in the aviation field, the many different labs they have on campus and they even let you get behind the yoke of a small airplane with your roommate and a flight instructor for two hours. Or at least they did that with me when I went into it…
Check it out on their website.
