How can you have only one clip from a movie?

Hey guys, I was going to make a montage of all U.S. wars of all movies war. The problem is that films can get no problem but when if I want a scene and upload it to Movie Maker, it would take ages and so much space. I know that a Mac can take some clips, but not exactly of their own, so do you know how to take only clips of some of the movies? Any Extra help is appreciated, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ANSWER IF YOU WANT addition, if desired, guys make a list of some films of war and a cool song that sets the standard. I already I have the Revolutionary War: The Spanish patriot war in Cuba: The Alamo of World War: All Quiet on the Western Front World War II, many Vietnam War films: Apocalypse Now (was going to use Aerosmith's Dream On)
