Why did God not protect the Native Americans and Africans from the European Imperialist conquest?

Why didn’t he protect the Jews, Gypsies, handicaps, homosexuals, etc. from the Nazis?

Well, that depends on a number of variables. Among them, does God actually exist; and if so, which one? Remember there are multiple religions.

For the purpose of this discussion, I will go with the one I know best–the Bible version. To answer your question, we must go back to the beginning.

We must go back to the story of Adam and Eve. This is fairly simple. God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Satan came to Eve and told her God had lied to her, and that she should decide to eat the fruit. Eve, and later Adam, decide to eat the fruit.

By doing so, they raise a most important question–Does God really have the right to lead us, or should we lead our own lives? Which would be more beneficial to us?

Now God could easily have destroyed Satan, and maybe even Adam and Eve, and either started all over or forget the whole idea of creating life. But if He did, Then There would always be the question, is God really the best Person to lead?

So to answer the question, the whole universe had to see what would happen if humans led themselves vs. if God led us. God had already provided the Garden of Eden. But to further show He was better, He chose to pick out a people (the Israelites) as a sort of “control group” for the experiment. When the Israelites listened to God, did they do better than other civilizations that led themselves?

All evidence as given in the Bible (it’s your choice as to whether you believe it or not) shows that the Israelites did much better than other civilizations when they listened to Jehovah, but fared poorly when they tried to lead themselves.

But, while humankind overall has done very poorly leading themselves (wars, killing, death, oppression, etc., etc., etc.), we have not come to the end yet. In other words, as long as humans exist there is still some chance that we could turn it around and lead ourselves to a glory similar to that given to us by God in the Garden of Eden. Notice that there are still many who believe that medical science will one day end disease, that technology will take us to vast untold glories the whole universe through, that we have it in us to find peace and togetherness.

So as long as we are still here, there is that question that we can turn it around. We haven’t yet, but that chance is always near. But if God interferes, then Satan can always point out that we were not allowed to see if we could do it alone and so could claim that God is trying to prevent us from seeing that we don’t need Him.

So God MUST allow us to lead ourselves, to run society with OUR governments and not His government. We must show whether we can save ourselves or whether we NEED God to save us. The Nazis were one kind of government, Democracy is another, Communism is another. There are all kinds of governments that we are trying, to see if anything we come up with can save us.

But according to the Bible, God already knows we will eventually fail. The Bible predicts a time when we will literally be on the verge of extinction. And that is why Jesus must wait until the day of Armageddon (the last day of the Great Tribulation) to save us. To show that we would have eliminated ourselves from existence if we had continued to lead ourselves.

Then, and only then, will God have proven beyond all doubt to ANYONE paying attention that only HE can lead us; because if left to our own devices we will kill ourselves off. It is to our benefit that God lead us, and not humans. Because as you have just pointed out, when we lead ourselves we have created Nazis, Communists, revolutions, oppression, etc., etc., etc.

Those that choose to follow God (again, I’m assuming the Bible one, but there are other explanations based on differing religions, and there are even Atheist explanations for things) are the ones who are saying that they see humans cannot lead themselves, and are giving themselves over to God to be led because they see it as the most beneficial course of action. They believe that God can bring anyone back, including those you’ve mentioned who were killed in the course of humans leading themselves. But we must show that we are willing to be in God’s government, and understand that no human government can ever work.
