Medications on board aircraft: Aside from lost luggage is there any non-medical reasons why …?
it’s better to carry pharmaceuticals with you, then leaving them in a suitcase as luggage? My mother left her anti-biotics at home and has a friend packing them in her luggage when she visits mother in Florida crossing the border from Canada.
Medication can be brought into the country for personal use. However, the prescription for those antibiotics are in your mother’s name not her friend’s name so technically the friend is not allowed to import the drugs. I don’t think they would make a big deal over antibiotics though.
The environmental extremes that the luggage will be exposed to can be quite extreme. Some cargo holds aren’t even pressurized. The baggage handlers seems to take great pleasure in seeing how far they can throw any luggage with handles. The luggage will be stacked so there could be a fair bit of weight piled up on top of the luggage.
